PROCESS FLOW:

Benzoic acid is prepared by oxidation of toluene with an oxygen containing gas.

Put toluene and Cobalt naphtenate of measured scale into oxygenation tower, rise the temperature to 140C. Three hours later, keep 165C-180C, 0.6-0.70Mpa, react for 18-22 hours. When the percent conversion reach 65-75%, suppress into distillation still, boil up non-reacted toluene, make the assay of benzoic acid reach 89% min.

Put the rough benzoic acid into first and second fractionating tower, control temperature, vacuum, reflux rati, get refined benzoic acid 98.0% min from tower top.

Reacting equation: 2C6H5CH3 + 3O2 > 2C6H5COOH + 2H2O
